Living with uncertainty

A few years ago, many of the things we now live alongside every day would have felt unthinkable.

A global pandemic. Ongoing war played out in real time on our phones. Political polarisation hardening into something brittle and hostile. Economic instability that makes planning feel risky. Climate breakdown that’s no longer abstract but visible all around us. Our technologies are moving faster than our ability to absorb their impact. We all feel a sense that the ground rules are shifting.

At the same time, we are still expected to carry on as normal. To work. To parent. To plan. To be productive, optimistic and emotionally available. To make sensible decisions in conditions that often feel anything but.

I work with people who are trying to live thoughtfully inside this tension. People who are paying attention, who care about the world they’re part of, and who feel the strain of holding all of this alongside ordinary responsibilities.

We are not going to dabble in positive thinking and learning to cope better so you can ignore what’s happening or just surrender in dispair. Instead we are going to look at making sense of your experience in a world that no longer offers simple narratives or stable reference points.

Sometimes that means talking honestly about fear, anger, grief or moral fatigue. It also means questioning assumptions about success, safety or progress that no longer hold. Together we’ll be slowing things down enough to notice what you’re being asked to absorb and then deciding what you will and won’t carry.

Our work together is shaped by what’s most alive for you. That might include how you stay present with your children without shielding them unrealistically, how you continue to care without burning out, how you make decisions when the future feels uncertain, or how you remain human in a world that looks increasingly inhuman in so many places.

I work online, which allows the sessions to fit around what’s already happening in your life. You can find more about how I work below.
